Farewell

Wow, time really flies! I can’t believe this is my last blog. It’s been an amazing experience and although I am back home in the hustle and bustle of the lower mainland, I will never forget the small town experience I had in Quesnel. I gave myself some time to really reflect on my experiences of this term. From the amazing people I met, to the sights I saw, to the experience gained and connections I made in the industry I really couldn’t have asked for a better term.

In my last week I managed to get out into the bush and do some silviculture work with my fellow blogger Kayla Brock. You can see my experience on her blog. It was a really great experience to see the beginning of the wood products cycle, it made me realize how much work goes into making the mill run smoothly. Other than my field day I finished archiving and documenting all my work.

From The University of British Columbia, I’d like to thank my co-op coordinator Sanya Sivic and the co-op office for organizing this internship.

From West Fraser, I’d like to thank Ian Legere and all of the Quesnel planer employees for dealing with my seemingly endless questions.

From FPAC, I’d like to thank Cheryl Miltmore for organizing the blogging and giving me this opportunity to display what I have done over the summer.

From the internet, thank you to all my readers for being interested in what I do for work and fun.

Finally a big thank you to all the fire fighters in BC for their continued work in keeping communities safe and allowing my to finish my work term without evacuating.

Going into the summer I thought I would just put my head down and work, then sleep through the weekends. However when I started blogging for FPAC, I was really pushed to do something interesting on the weekends so I could actually blog about something besides making lumber. (I still think making lumber is pretty cool.) If any applicants for next year are reading this, trust me the blogging will enhance your experience on your work term.

Hope to see you in the industry!
