Lunch Hour Hiking Trips

In this blog, I will show you readers some pictures I took of my lunch hour walks with my supervisor during my time at LP. Luckily enough, the LP East River mill is located near a beautiful trail system called Rails to Trails. This series of trails received its name because the railways that were once there were quite literally converted into trails.

On days when the weather was nice, we would walk to the trail entrance of the Chester Connection Trail. As I mentioned, this trail is very convenient to walk because it begins just a few hundred meters down the road from the mill. The trail is bordered by a river which eventually merges into a lake, there is a little picnic area where you can stop to enjoy the view. Along the Chester Connection Trail there is also a sub-trail which goes in to the woods to a small waterfall. On the warmer days we would take this trail because the trees provided some cool shade to walk under, so we could avoid the sun. Below you can see a few pictures from some of our walks.

During the last week of my work term, my supervisor and I decided to do something slightly different for our lunch time walk. We took a short drive to Grave’s Island where there is a trail around the perimeter of the island. From the trail you could see the compost facility, as well as the water tower at the mill. You could also see a few islands that were further out in the ocean, the views were breathtaking. I was able to get a few pictures to show you guys what I’m raving about.

That is all for this blog, thanks for reading.
