Senior Credit Specialist

Vernon, BC

Reporting to the Credit Manager, the position will provide support lead for the Credit team members. The primary focus of the Senior Credit Specialist is the collection effort in controlling the accounts receivable, meeting department performance expectations, and providing current and accurate accounts receivable information and support to the Credit Manager.

The incumbent will be responsible for reviewing customer accounts of Tolko Industries Ltd. and Tolko Marketing and Sales Ltd. and will assist Credit Specialists to ensure that accounts are being managed in a manner to promote sales while controlling the risk of bad debts. The Senior Credit Specialist will be in frequent contact with Sales Managers, Divisional Controllers, and other internal support staff, and acts as a key liaison for external contacts.

The Senior Credit Specialist is responsible for the credit and collections of a large receivable portfolio which include: acceptance and review of all new credit applications, recommendations on new accounts to the Credit Manager, timely follow up on all outstanding A/R items, and maintain customer files. The position will also be responsible for vacation relief and day to day activities of the Credit Department in the absence of the Credit Manager.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years experience in Credit and Collections
  • Participation in, or completion of accounting or finance management course is required
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting financial statements
  • Competent credit and collection skills
  • Manages relationships both internally and externally
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing business conditions as well as changing priorities
  • Experience in BI reporting
  • Strong communication and computer skills
  • Works well in a team environment
