Based in Prince George (or Taylor, BC area) and Reporting to the Mill Controller, with accountability to the General Manager, the Senior Operations Accountant is a key member of the Taylor Pulp Finance Team, responsible for providing accurate decision-making information that will support the management team. This position will be located in Prince George, with regular monthly travel to Taylor, BC required.

Major Responsibilities:
-Prepare monthly journal entries and perform account reconciliations
-Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly financial statements and complete variance analysis
-Prepare annual and quarterly forecasts
-Perform in depth analysis to support short term and long range strategic plans and operating budgets
-Support the mills Management Team with in-depth analysis
-Set up project codes for and track costs of maintenance projects at the division
-Prepare monthly and quarterly leadership presentations for the GM
-Identify non-value added processes within the department and seeks solutions
-Support the Mill Controller by being the first point of contact for issues and questions
-Provide timely, relevant and accurate reporting & analysis of the division’s performance against historical, forecasted and strategic planning results to facilitate decision-making toward the achievement targets and alignment with the strategic plan
-Monitor, analyze and review approval routing of requisitions, work orders, and change orders in the CMMS
-Analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators and costs
-Improve financial status by analyzing results, monitoring variances, identifying trends, and recommending actions to management
-Demonstrate and apply appropriate understanding / working knowledge of accounting principles and internal control
-Liaison with accounting staff from other divisions, internal/external auditors, accounts payable and mill operations
-Complete ad hoc reports and analysis as requested

Qualifications & Training Required:
-Professional Accounting Designation (CPA or equivalent)
-5+ years related industry experience
-Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills, as well as the ability to lead and work effectively in a team environment
-Exceptional business acumen with an eye for identifying innovative and value-added opportunities
-Advanced computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
-Ability to travel to Taylor, BC on a monthly basis (Estimated at 1 week (5 days) per month)
