Job Description

Weyerhaeuser Drayton Valley has an opening for a Maintenance
Supervisor with strong technical and leadership capabilities.

As the Maintenance Supervisor, you will plan and lead the daily
activities of a team of Millwrights, Welders and Labourers in the
areas of safety, reliability, quality, and maintenance for all
equipment and buildings to deliver on departmental and unit goals.
The Maintenance Supervisor reports to the Maintenance Manager.
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for safely planning,
coordinating and maintaining maintenance schedules, while ensuring
focus on continuous process improvement and predictive
maintenance.

Key Functions


As Maintenance Supervisor, you will:

  • Plan, develop, manage, and provide effective leadership for the
    maintenance team
  • Ensure the safety of all associates by identifying safety
    issues and taking measures to proactively address concerns
  • Actively supervise and develop the maintenance team to ensure
    effective communication across and between shifts, and with the
    production teams
  • Utilize preventive/predictive maintenance systems to reduce
    unscheduled downtime
  • Efficiently use reliable troubleshooting methods to ensure
    uptime, production volume, maintenance costs and quality goals are
    met
  • Effectively utilize training resources to maximize team
    technical skills
  • Use computerized maintenance management systems to support
    effective prioritization of maintenance requests, manage
    maintenance inventory, and delegate maintenance resources
  • Lead team meetings and training
  • Identify safety, reliability, environmental, quality and
    production issues
  • Coordinate activities with the production team to maximize
    productivity and minimize cost
  • Reduce waste and take measures to proactively address all
    concerns
  • Proactively resolve employee issues, build teamwork, and ensure
    adherence to all applicable site policies and procedures in a fair
    and consistent manner

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Demonstrated commitment to safe work behaviors and experience
    leading and ensuring compliance with safety initiatives
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in the areas of electrical,
    welding, and mechanical trades
  • Proven expertise in preventive and predictive maintenance
    methods
  • Ability to identify the root cause of problems and effectively
    initiate immediate corrective action to prevent reoccurrence
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and electronic
    communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to raise performance by building and
    maintaining positive relationships with all associates through
    coaching, development and instilling a continuous improvement
    mind-set
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Strong work ethic, good judgment and decision-making
    skills
  • Proven track record of consistently demonstrating leadership
    skills and a positive influence, as well as accomplishments in
    proactively influencing safety, reliability, environmental,
    quality, productivity and people development
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft
    Office, other Windows based programs, and internet skills
  • Able to perform all essential functions of an industrial
    environment, including lifting 2-20 pounds regularly, lifting up to
    50 pounds occasionally, climbing steps/ladders, working from
    heights, standing or walking for 2-3 hours at a time for 10 hours
    or more, working in extreme temperatures, dust, and noise while
    wearing appropriate safety equipment
  • Flexible with schedule and able to work any shift, weekends,
    overtime, and holidays as needed
  • Successful completion of background check and post-offer
    pre-employment drug screen and physical

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • Bachelor?s degree (or higher) in a related field or trade
    equivalent
  • Working knowledge of business and financial concepts
  • Demonstrated results in achieving and sustaining business
    goals
  • Solid computer skills
  • Minimum 3 years’ supervisory experience in an industrial
    environment preferred
