Weyerhaeuser’s Wood Products business is searching for a Labour
Relations Specialist located in the Edson, Alberta.
This role will support the Edson manufacturing site for a 12-month
temporary assignment. This position will report to the Lead Panels
Human Resource Manager with a strong dotted line responsibility to
the assigned Manufacturing Unit Manager. The Labour Relations
Specialist will provide onsite human resource support to the
The Labour Relations Specialist must have appropriate leadership
skills, HR generalist knowledge and experience to participate in
human resource special projects, processes and assignments within
the Wood Products HR team as required.
Role model safety standards and on-the-job behavior by role
modeling Weyerhaeuser?s core principles of integrity, fairness,
creating a positive work environment, and ensuring open
communication among associates.

Act as a strategic business partner and member of the mill
leadership team as well as the Panels HR team.
Provide consultation, guidance and coaching to leaders and
Proactively manage HR administrative activities and labour
Ensures compliance requirements and champions diversity goals

Manage education, training and continuous development of skills
for leaders and associates.
Ensures provincial and labour relations compliance employment
Responsible for salaried and hourly staffing functions
(includes sourcing, recruiting, retention and on boarding
Supports Wood Products HR initiatives.
Bachelor?s Degree Preferred
2 to 4 years of labour relations experience or equivalent
experience in key HR functions.
Experience working in a union environment and managing the
grievance process and preparing for arbitration or medication.
Demonstrated safety leadership skills.
Strong coaching, negotiation and influencing skills.
Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills with
demonstrated courage to intervene and be proactive.
Ability to develop and maintain collaborative and effective
working relationships at site, across WP businesses and in the
Excellent interpersonal, facilitation and communication
Experience in issue resolution and employee relations.
Experience in Talent and Performance Management.
Strong sourcing, recruiting and staffing capabilities.
Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter, manages multiple
priorities, assess HR implications and manage details.
Strong understanding of the Province of Alberta employment
Strong computer skills and proficiency in HR systems.
Experience working in manufacturing union environment
