Job Description

Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc. (Al-Pac) is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and supportive team player for the role of Health & Safety Trainer.

The Health & Safety Trainer is responsible for ensuring that Alberta-Pacific is compliant to training and certification requirements by facilitating internal safety training as well as
conducting training and development programs to improve individual and organizational performance. This position is located at our mill site location near Athabasca, Alberta.

Responsibilities

• Deliver third party certified training courses including but not limited to:
o Fall Protection.
o Zoom Boom.
o Elevated Work Platform.
o Flagging, Skidsteer.
o Overhead Crane.

• Deliver internal training courses including but not limited to:
o Knowledge of Confined Space.
o Knowledge of First Break.
o Safe Work Permit.
o Hot Work Permit.
o Hazard Analysis/Risk Assessment.
o Knowledge & Use of Gas Detection Equipment.
o Demonstrate Use of SCBA.
o Hoist Reload Training.
o Summer Student Training Program.
o Tankwatch Training Program.

• Perform Training Administration duties including but not limited to:
o Ordering manuals and supplies needed for training.
o Booking and set up of meeting/training rooms.
o Advertising and course reminders.
o Training attendance and record keeping.
o Issuing of certificates.
o Entering training records in TRACCESS.
o Arranging for audits of train-the-trainer courses.
o Maintenance of instructor qualifications.
o Training completion audits, analysis, and reporting.

• Perform Training Support duties including but not limited to:
o Liaising with 3rd party training companies.
o Arranging for external training, as needed.
o Development of safety training and TRACCESS folders for all divisions.
o Provide training assistance to the Emergency Response Team.

• Provide coverage for Systems Administrator including:
o Building TRACCESS folders for Pulp.
o Updating competencies.
o Entering training records in TRACCESS.
o General TRACCESS support.

Qualifications

• Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
• Knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety training requirements.
• Able to travel, typical 5+% domestic.
• Flexible work hours to meet business needs.
• Clean Driver’s Abstract.
