Job Description

Grande Prairie Lumber has an
opening for a Maintenance Development Millwright. This
opportunity is to support planning in the kilns as well as directly
participate in Dryside Maintenance/Reliability/Project
Activities.

Reporting to the Maintenance Team
Leader, the successful candidate will work as an integral part of
the Maintenance Team and will share responsibilities with the
Maintenance Planning/Reliability Department for the Dryside. This
is an ideal role for an outgoing individual who has demonstrated
their commitment to safety and is interested in learning more about
planning and reliability and who also demands attention to detail;
functions well within a team environment; can identify and perform
tasks with minimal supervision; and can maintain a keen focus on
financial responsibility while minimizing production downtime.

The shift schedule is a 4 x10-hour per
day work schedule.  Scope of work will include (but subject to
changes based on business needs) responding to and investigating
kiln outages, planning kilns and Dryside activities, and directly
working on maintenance, project and reliability activities in the
mill. There is also an expectation to work a percentage of overtime
as determined by business and team needs. Shift schedule may change
to meet future business needs.

applicant:

  • Able to safely drive reliability
  • Will determine how jobs will be accomplished: the proper
    solution, tasks and assist in the coordination of when they will be
    completed.
  • Will ensure the proper material, skills, personnel, and other
    resources required for safe job execution, efficient, and
    cost-effective are available.
  • Will need to demonstrate flexibility to meet changing needs
    within the business – i.e. availability during maintenance
    outages
  • Back up to Planermill Maintenance Planner

The successful candidate will have
demonstrated the following:

  • Ability to meet all Team Norms and Standards, specifically in
    safety performance and maintaining a low absence level.
  • Behavior consistent with the Safety Vision and Policy and the
    Site Principles.
  • The willingness and ability to acquire new skills as business
    needs change.
  • The ability to work effectively with others.
  • The ability to take initiative for the completion of their work
    tasks and skill development.
  • A positive attitude geared towards a team environment.
  • Computer skills/SAP, and able achieve a competent level of
    understanding of Process Logic Control (PLC).
  • Problem solving which will require in-depth trouble shooting
    skills.
  • Interface with other trades, support groups and other resources
    as required ? i.e. Electrical Reliability, Engineering, Reliability
    and Operations.
  • Coach and train to improve the skills of teammates.

 

Qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to individuals having a strong
    knowledge of Grande Prairie Lumber with proven maintenance and
    leadership skills.
  • High School diploma/GED or higher
  • Journeyman Ticket
  • Ability to meet all requirements of the role which includes but
    is not limited to, lifting up to 50 lbs; standing and walking for
    extended periods of time.

  • This role will be administered in the Technician Progression
    System.
  • The successful candidate will have the ability to achieve Level
    E (M3).
