Job Description
Reporting to the Regional Control Systems Specialist, this position is responsible for recommending methods to improve safety, quality, throughput and uptime. Additionally, they will have a good working knowledge of sawmill equipment from an optimization, controls and mechanical point of view.
This includes finding solutions for complex problems, continually search for process improvements, and researching technical details behind the processes used. The CSS will interface frequently with the other Control Systems Specialists in order to ensure standards and best practices are adhered to.
Qualifications
- 5 + years of experience in forest products manufacturing is preferred
- Experience with PLC ladder logic, motion control, variable frequency drives, visualization systems (HMIs)
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in a technical/engineering discipline
- Professional certification as an engineer or technologist
- Good working knowledge of the Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk and Studio5000 software platforms
- Good working knowledge of sawmill equipment from an optimization, controls and mechanical point of view
- Good working knowledge of virtualization software
- Good working knowledge of Ethernet networking
