people to be part of our team. We have a 4 or 8 month co-op
opportunity at our Slave Lake Veneer division in Alberta.


 As the successful candidate, you will
have excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to
influence others, champion change, build relationships and foster
open communication.  You are a results oriented, get it done
type of individual who can collaborate with other individuals and
teams. The ability to take initiative and look at projects with a
return on investment mentality is required.  A strong grasp of
process concepts and being a team player in a multi-shift
production environment will also ensure your success in the role.
Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for

  • Cooperative management of the Quality Control Program
  • Analysis and communication of quality performance
  • Identification and implementation of corrective actions as
  • Cost management and leadership in continuous process
  • Analytical support for operational and capital improvement
  • Technical support for mill personnel as necessary

Your Skills include:

  • Strong leadership and motivational skills
  • Understanding of Statistical Process Control
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Solid troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal communication and technical writing
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment to
    facilitate and resolve issues.

Your Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a recognized post-secondary school in a
    Wood Sciences, Forestry, or Engineering program
  • Available for a minimum of 4 months starting in May 2021
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite; including Excel and VBA
  • Ability to use Visio or AutoCAD will be an asset
  • Excellent verbal communication and technical writing
  • Proven interpersonal and leadership skills, ability to work
    alone with minimum guidance and also within a multi-discipline
  • Positive and self-motivated
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Safety first attitude, previous health and safety training
    would be an asset
  • Knowledge of the forest industry is not necessary but would be
    considered a definite advantage
