Job Description

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Sawmill Superintendent is an integral part of the Soda Creek Management Team.  The Sawmill Superintendent is responsible for safe and efficient planning, organizing and all operating aspects of the sawmill department.  Responsible for exceeding targets in quality, cost control and employee engagement with an uncompromising focus on safety standards. This key position works closely with the maintenance team and other staff to ensure safety, production and overall plant efficiency. The successful incumbent will require superior leadership skills to deliver on World Class results and possesses a comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing operations, OH&S and employee relations.

Qualifications:

  • A strong commitment to safety, quality, lumber recovery and production
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in all areas of Lumber Manufacturing
  • Supervisory experience and strong management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of workplace safety systems and programs
  • Ability to analyze data, rationalize solutions, and communicate plans
  • Experience in hiring and developing diverse teams
