Hello fellow interns and readers. My summer has come to an end, and a good one it has been. I know I am down one blog, but the herbicide spray program took my time and focus, with long hours and tiring days. For the past two weeks, I was able to fly in a helicopter every day and get the experience of running a crew of people.

Welcome to August, everyone. Summer is coming to an end. I always know when summer is wrapping up when the crickets start chirping. They haven’t begun yet, so we still have some time.
The tree plant has come to an end, though! The tree planters have all gone back home until next year’s plant starts again. I would like to thank all the tree planters for being awesome to the Millar Western checkers.

The most plots I have gotten to is around 70 plots in one day.

I am all done my training and officially started my job! Yay! My job this summer is to check the quality of the trees that planters (contractors hired by Millar Western) put into the ground. This is the first time I have ever been looking over other people’s work, which is a huge responsibility, because their pay is determined by the quality of the planting.

Hello friends!! My name is Emily, I’m from Sault Ste. Marie, ON, and I’ve been hired for a silviculture position at Millar Western in the Whitecourt woodlands dept. This is the first blog I have ever written, so bear with me.
I started on April 28th, and I have not looked back — everyone has been awesome here and very helpful.
