Great Forestry Experience !

As I write this blog I am sitting in my trailer on my last night in camp, it’s been a pretty interesting 7 weeks and time has really flown by. It’s hard to think close to the last two months of my summer work term have been spent in a remote location at the end of the east arm of Quesnel Lake.

I can’t believe I have been in camp for 5 weeks (coming up on the 6th), time is really flying by as I only have 3 weeks left in my summer work term. Life in camp is not bad, I would say the only downside is that there is no escape from the work, however, it is great work experience and a great opportunity for me to gain knowledge in road deactivation.

Fire Season Is here!

The past few weeks have been very eventful, I was lucky enough to go on a work trip with the planning department to Anahim Lake shortly after I wrote my last blog. During our trip we stayed at an incredible lodge with great food right on the lake. Our work days consisted of venturing into the bush to collect site plan data for proposed harvest blocks.

The First Weeks Alone

Well, the two and a half weeks of training are over and my partner Jonathan and I were issued our West Fraser company truck a few weeks ago. It feels really good to finally be able to go out into the Cariboo/Chilcotin wilderness and get to work. One of the most fascinating things has been the drives to our daily work locations,
