August? Didn’t I just write exams? Didn’t I just get here? I honestly do not know where the time went or why summer always has to fly by. Before I even begin to reflect upon my past few weeks here in Hudson Bay, I want to truly emphasize how much I enjoyed this summer break in Saskatchewan (of all places) with Weyerhaeuser.

There is fulfillment in walking the pathless woods, listening to the trees sway in the wind and the birds call out above your head. Walking through the forest, which often has been left undisturbed from human activity aside from the odd hunter or trapper, is my absolute favourite part of working within the forestry industry. I have had the luxury of finding wild berries as I weave my way through the forest.

Another week, another blog – what to write about this time?
In the past three months I have had the chance to work a few weekends here and there, which has resulted in a small collection of ‘banked days’. Seeing as I am somewhat closer to the mountains here in Hudson Bay (as opposed to Thunder Bay) I took the opportunity to take a small vacation/trip to explore Jasper National Park.

Well another two weeks have flown by and here I am sitting at my computer trying to recall all that I have accomplished in what seems like a mere matter of days. As I noted in my last blog, this summer internship is passing by in a blink of an eye and I can hardly believe it’s nearly July. A part of me is enjoying the fact that working and being here in Saskatchewan means the days do not drag by,

Prior to my arrival in Saskatchewan, I stereotypically pictured a completely flat terrain composed primarily of farmers’ fields with scattered small communities. When I initially told family members and friends that I would be working in Saskatchewan for the summer, the common response I received was “are there even trees in Saskatchewan?” As silly as this may sound now, at the time I wasn’t sure myself of that particular answer.
