Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc. (Al-Pac) is seeking a Trainer, Safety to work out of our mill site near Athabasca, Alberta. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring Al-Pac is compliant with safety training and certification requirements owned by the Health, Safety & Security division. The Trainer is also responsible for scheduling and conducting training and development sessions to support individual and organizational needs. This position assesses and performs training needs analysis to identify gaps that may be present.

Role Responsibilities

• Learning & Development Program:
o Conduct learning sessions to meet the requirements of a specified curriculum or to fill gaps in existing programs.
o Develop and maintain relevant content and high-quality training resources to ensure high levels of learner engagement and achievement of learning outcomes.
o Deliver pre-developed training sessions or short courses, engaging, advising, and guiding learners and evaluating the achievement of intended learning outcomes.
o Administer TRACCESS folders and maintain records for H&S competency requirements.
• Learning Needs Analysis:
o Support the identification of learning needs by analysing performance and competence data to identify gaps in relation to required levels.
o Recommend priorities for Learning and Development interventions.
• Document Preparation:
o Organize and prepare complex documents using a variety of computer applications such as Microsoft Office.
o Gathering and summarizing data for special reports.
• Development Centre Design and Delivery:
o Assesses current programs and support exercises; with input from stakeholders creates and develops planning processes and tools to meet training needs.
• Facilitate Third Party Vendor Training:
o Coordinates, organizes, and schedules third-party vendors when required to support training needs that have been identified.
• Personal Capability Building:
o Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching.
o Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
• Data Management:
o Carry out a wide range of data processing tasks as directed and advise other colleagues and provide guidance on processes when needed.
• Plans and Aligns:
o Plans and prioritizes work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals. For example, outlines clear plans that put actions in a logical sequence; conveys some time frames.
o Aligns own work with relevant workgroups.
o Takes some steps to reduce bottlenecks and speed up the work.


Role Requirements

• Post-secondary Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Adult Education or a related program plus five years of recent related experience. A High School Diploma or equivalent, with 5-10 years of relevant industrial work experience will be considered.
