Weyerhaeuser
is accepting applications for an Environmental Coordinator to
support our OSB manufacturing facility in Edson,
Alberta.
This
is a full-time, salaried exempt position reporting to the Technical
Manager.
The
Environmental Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the facility
complies with applicable environmental laws and regulations. This
position champions improvement projects and implements successful
environmental practices in a cost-effective
manner.
The
successful candidate develops a win-win approach for implementing
environmental requirements, and provides leadership in developing,
implementing, and managing environmental policies, procedures, and
practices.
Key
Responsibilities:
Work
safely, and in full compliance with the facility’s safety plans,
policies and practices.
Role
model all standards/processes and on-the-job behavior by living our
core values of safety, integrity, citizenship, sustainability, and
inclusion.
On a
daily basis, be accountable for compliance with environmental
regulations and permit conditions.
Ensure
that inspections and recordkeeping are performed at required
frequencies, and that environmental monitoring parameters comply
with permits, plans, government regulations, or other regulatory or
company requirements.
Build
relationships with regulatory agencies concerning environmental
compliance and work with them to influence regulatory
outcomes.
Build
relationships with production leaders, managers, supervisors, and
associates to influence environmental best practices.
Ensure
proper and timely implementation of facility environmental plans
and procedures.
Resolve
environmental upsets with the facility managers, regional
environmental manager, appropriate regulatory agencies, and other
appropriate company environmental contacts.
Support
and/or lead facility environmental compliance audits at the
facility.
Requirements
Post-secondary
education in a related discipline is an asset.
Experience
in an Environmental or a Health and Safety role would be an
asset.
Understanding
of applicable environmental requirements & permits.
Knowledge
of compliance management systems [e.g. Environmental Notebook,
Environmental Management Systems (EMS)].
Knowledge
of environmental compliance auditing process & ability to
complete an internal/external audit/review.
Team
player with strong leadership skills, strong work ethic and
integrity in a diverse work environment.
Proficient
written, communication and comprehension skills.
Proactive,
able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated
computer skills – proficient with MS Word, Excel,
Exchange.
High
level of integrity, strong work ethic, good judgment &
problem-solving skills.
This
successful candidate must be a self-starter and be able to
independently determine work requirements, set priorities and
complete projects.
Compensation:
This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we
are targeting a salary range of $81,600 to $117,400 based on your
level of skills, qualifications, and experience. You will also be
eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash
bonus targeting 7% of base pay. A relocation package is available
for this role.
