Weyerhaeuser is seeking a Dryside
(planer) Superintendent for its lumber manufacturing team in
beautiful Princeton, BC.

Princeton, BC is a historic town of
approximately 2,700 people nestled in the Similkameen region next
to the Similkameen and Tulameen rivers. It is surrounded by the
breathtaking scenery of rich forest and several lakes, host to
cross country skiing, golfing, fishing/hunting, and camping. For
those who desire a faster pace, Princeton is 110 kms from Osoyoos
and Penticton (wine country), 162 kms from Kelowna and 284 kms to
Vancouver. Living here means access to the Kettle Valley Rail path

Reporting to the Mill Manager, this
role is a key member of the Princeton Lumber leadership team. The
successful candidate will have proven abilities or exceptional
aptitude in safety leadership, quality, productivity, budget
management, and continuous improvement, along with knowledge of
reliability/maintenance practices. We are looking for someone who
can lead our planer/kilns team to world class execution of standard
manufacturing and maintenance practices. The successful candidate
will have the ability to grow and develop as a leader within the
company.

 Key
Functions:

  • Safely delivering operational
    excellence in a dynamic manufacturing environment
  • Role model all safety
    standards/processes and on-the-job behavior by living our core
    values, people principles, fostering a positive and inclusive work
    environment
  • Share responsibility for attaining
    a world class reliability culture
  • Leading an operations team in
    delivering work execution excellence, with overlapping
    responsibilities in maintenance
  • Building and maintaining positive
    relationships with all department personnel, peers, corporate
    resources, and senior leadership, to continuously improve mill
    operations and reliability
  • Experience and proven ability to
    lead teams in a union environment and promote a culture of trust
    and collaboration
  • Facilitates fact-based meetings
    with operations, maintenance, and leadership, to identify
    priorities and plans to improve, implement, and lead the plans as
    necessary, and document and track progress
  • Practice responsible financial
    management in the execution of maintenance reliability
    functions
  • Responsible for the development of
    planer supervisors and building team depth and breadth through
    succession planning
  • Contribute to the strategic
    planning process to include providing input, direction and
    solutions to issues based on analytical data
  • Remain current and up to date on
    changing technical, reliability and maintenance management
    improvements in the industry
  • Will be expected to contribute to
    other mill teams, such as the Health and Safety Committee
    activities or environmental initiatives.
     

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma, GED,
    or equivalent is required
  • Prefer an undergraduate degree in
    Business, Forestry, or another related program
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in
    wood products manufacturing, ideally leading production teams
  • Experience managing in a unionized
    environment is an asset
  • Experience or demonstrated aptitude
    in leading a team of professionals in a reliability role
  • Demonstrated experience in safely
    leading systematized process, preventative maintenance, and process
    improvements in productivity, costs, etc.
  • Proven ability to establish and
    maintain positive relationships with and promote healthy
    teamwork
  • Excellent planning, problem
    solving, communication and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills –
    conflict management, coaching, supportive feedback, and problem
    solving
  • A track record of success in a
    complex and fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated experience in
    effective root cause analysis
  • Learn and support maintenance and
    reliability efforts, and develop to become a reliable delegate for
    other department managers, including the Maintenance Manager
  • Experience working with Microsoft
    Word, Excel, Outlook, and other computer-based systems
  • Ability to support production
    shifts as needed
  • Willingness to support a 24/7
    operating schedule.

Compensation: This role is eligible
for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a
salary range of $104,000 – $153,000 based on your level of skills,
qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our
Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 10%
of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two
times that target.

Retirement Savings Plan (Group RRSP).
