 Weyerhaeuser’s (Engineered Lumber Products)
Timberstrand® manufacturing Plant, located on beautiful Lake of the
Woods in Kenora, Ontario, is currently seeking permanent full-time
Technical Director. Our plant manufactures the high strength
engineered wood product Timberstrand® in a 24/7 operations,
non-union, manufacturing environment.  We believe that the key

The
successful candidate will 
oversee the development of
the plant quality management system (QMS), serve as the plant
product performance expert, educate personnel on their role in the
QMS, and monitor daily quality requirements.  The Plant Technical Director will
ensure that all products adhere to our manufacturing standards and
will provide technical expertise and a scientific approach to
solving plant manufacturing opportunities  .
This is a full-time, salaried exempt position
that reports
directly to the site’s Mill Manager. 



Key Functions:


  • Acts as a role model for our core values: Safety, Integrity,
    Citizenship, Sustainability and Inclusion

  • Has accountability for the plant’s quality assurance (QA) programs
    and processes to ensure that they comply with the manufacturing
    standards

  • Provides technical expertise and leadership, regarding plant
    process, product quality and performance

  • Safely and effectively, manages the onsite laboratory, as well as
    the technical related processes and procedures

Requirements

  • A
    Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Forestry, Wood Sciences,
    Engineering or a related field will be highly preferred;
    Non-related degrees or the equivalent amount of working experience
    will also be considered

  • Be a professional engineer, be a member of a technical association
    relevant to structural composite lumber or provide at least two
    references that they qualified practitioner of the quality
    sciences.

  • Minimum 3-5 years technical experience

    in a related field

  • Must have track record of consistently demonstrating leadership
    skills as well as positive influence and accomplishments in safety,
    quality, productivity, change management, and people
    development

  • Demonstrated success in working with customers, direct reports,
    peers, other department employees including managers

  • Team oriented and excellent interpersonal and communication
    skills

  • Must be pro-active in process improvements and have excellent
    follow-through in meeting commitments.

  • Strong Computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and experience
    with industrial statistics and statistical analysis

  • Capable of managing multiple projects with strong organizational
    skills with very close attention to detail

  • Must be able to prioritize and multitask with ability to work with
    minimal supervision

  • Critical thinker, enthusiastic and positive approach towards
    employees and work

  • Ability to meet timelines
