Role Responsibilities

Designing Process control Applications:
- Implement all software, hardware, and installation design. This includes graphics development, controls design and implementation, controls maintenance, advanced controls design and maintenance, system maintenance and repairs, integrates new projects with existing systems, updating and creating narratives.

Security and Operational Safety:
- Responsible for the control system security and operational safety, including control of system user access.

Liaison with other Business Units:
- Liaises closely with others involved in different aspects for the systems including instrumentation, electrical, shift E/I, technical, engineering, production, and external IT suppliers of the technology.

Process Management:
- Create written procedures for own tasks and for common tasks (such as downloading transmitters) to support E/I mill wide.

Administration of Process Control System/Network:
- System Backups, User Access, Network Switch Configuration, Network layout; and maintenance, System Maintenance; Patch and Virus administration, etc.

Role Requirements:
- Post-Secondary Education as an Instrument Technologist or an Engineer with Controls experience and training.
- 5+ years experience in a Process Controls related role.
- Considered an asset:
Journeyman Electrical ticket.
Previous Process Controls System experience.
Experience working within a Pulp Mill and/or Industrial plant.
- Must hold valid Driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
- Experience reading and interpreting technical specifications, functional specifications and schematics requirements.
- Experience pertaining to Process Control Networks: Best Practices, Infrastructure, and Security (Honeywell Experion preferred).
- Experience building automated Control systems.
- Experience with DCS programming including MMI development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to test & write modifications in multiple languages.
- Good understanding of Control theory.
