Timberlands is accepting applications for the position of Roads
Supervisor based out of our Timberlands office in Princeton,
British Columbia. This role is part of the Operations Team and will
report to the Operations Superintendent.
As the successful candidate
you will be part of an empowered and professional team that manages
forestry operations in the Nicola, Similkameen and Okanagan Regions
of Southern British Columbia. The team is responsible for providing
the Weyerhaeuser sawmill and other wood using facilities in the
region with 1.0 million m3/year of wood from TFL 59, forest
licenses, management agreements and wood purchases.
In
collaboration with indigenous communities, our operation is quite
broad in scope managing all aspects of forest management. Our staff
of professionals is engaged in safety, forest stewardship plans,
cutting permit and road development, site plan and silviculture
prescription development, logging and road construction
supervision, contract rate negotiation, financial analysis, forest
certification, GIS, wildfire preparedness and response, log
purchase and sales.
The Operations Team is
responsible for timber harvest & haul and associated road
development and maintenance activities. As part of this team your
specific duties would include:
As a
Roads Supervisor, you will join the Operations Team, reporting to
the Operations Superintendent. The Operations Team is responsible
for timber harvest & haul and associated road development and
maintenance activities. Your specific duties will
include:
Providing safety leadership
within Weyerhaeuser as well as amongst contractors,
Ensuring compliance with safety,
contractual and environmental management systems,
Supervising contractors
conducting road construction, maintenance, and Bridge
installations,
Developing road construction and
maintenance schedules that support log delivery,
Cost forecasting for both road
construction and maintenance activities,
Supporting Interior Log Cost
Survey data collection and submission,
Road monitoring and management
of annual maintenance and deactivation activities,
Negotiation of contracts and
road maintenance agreements
Requirements
Demonstrated
leadership in safety,
Demonstrated
ability to communicate effectively, and develop effective working
relationships,
Demonstrated
ability to work both independently and as a team
member,
Strong
analytical and organizational skills,
Results
orientated with the ability to manage multiple
priorities,
Working
knowledge of forestry legislation,
Prefer
candidates registered as either a Registered Professional Forester
with the Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC) of a Register
as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional
Engineers and Geoscientists of BC,
Candidates
registered as Registered Forest Technologist with the Forest
Professionals British Columbia (FPBC) may also be considered with
relevant experience,
A
preference of a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in forest
operations
Experience
as a Coordinating Registered Professional for forest crossings
would be an asset.
Fieldwork
is an essential part of the role, and the work will always involve
a blend of time in the field and office-related responsibilities.
While these responsibilities can be completed in the office, you’ll
have the flexibility to work remotely up to two days a
week.
