division in Smither’s BC has an opportunity for an:
Accounts Payable &
Backup Shipping Clerk
Reporting to the Divisional Controller. As the successful
candidate, you are organized, detail orientated, and enjoy working
in a fast paced and dynamic environment. You have a demonstrated
ability to adapt to changing conditions and complete time sensitive
tasks. This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in our
business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Enter accounts payable into Oracle Financials
- Ensure invoices, cheque requests, and employee expense claims
are properly supported, coded and approved - Review account coding, manage discrepancies and correct any
miscoding - Ensure the accuracy of sales tax (GST and PST) and identify and
calculate self-assessments where required - Process invoices in an accurate and timely manner
- Match invoices to approval batches
- Prepare account reconciliations
- Provide month end accounting support
- Maintain and update centralized vendor records
- Process loggers pay and stumpage.
- Reception duties including answering phones and ordering office
supplies - Provide back-up/holiday relief for Shipping Clerk
- Support to the team in additional duties as needed
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary training in Administration or Accounting would
be an asset - 1 to 2 years experience in a similar role
- Experience in Oracle accounts payable or JD Edwards is an
asset - High degree of accuracy with numbers and strong attention to
detail - Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Must be flexible and be able to adjust to changing workloads
and tasks - Proficient with Microsoft Suite, advanced Excel skills
- A self-starter with the initiative to learn and grow
