Job Description

West Fraser Blue Ridge Lumber has a current opening for a Planer
Superintendent. Reporting to the General Manager, this position
requires proven supervisory and leadership skills. The Planer
Superintendent will be responsible for all aspects of safety and
production in the planer, dry kilns and shipping departments.

SUPERINTENDENT

Responsibilities include:

• Provide leadership for the department by being a role model in
  all areas, including safety, working relationships, quality, and
  training.
• Achieve production goals with the highest regard for employee
  safety.
• Manage the department’s cost in an expected manner, assuring
  optimum manufacturing unit cost, development, and education on key
  metrics.
• Effectively communicate goals to the team.
• Utilize established performance management systems to develop
  direct reports in the best interest of West Fraser (costs,
  overtime, absenteeism, employee performance).
• Provide supervisors & planners with the tools and people to
  keep equipment reliable.

• Championing the planer maintenance program

Our ideal candidate will have:

• A minimum of five years of industrial supervisory
  experience.

• Strong knowledge of maintenance systems

• Proven leadership, vision, dedication & ability to mentor a
  team.
• Knowledge of lumber quality and drying standards.
• Financial planning & budgeting experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite.

Located in Alberta, Whitecourt, Mayerthorpe, or Blue Ridge have
populations varying from 200 to 10,500. These communities are
located less than 2 hours West of the major City of Edmonton or 3
hours East of the world-renowned Jasper National Park.  These
