Job Description

Our Blue Ridge Lumber Woodlands team has an opportunity for
a:

 PLANNING
SUPERINTENDENT

Reporting to the Woods Manager, the Planning Superintendent will
work with a team of professionals responsible for all timber
development activities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage a group of forestry professionals including Planning
    Foresters, Assistant Foresters, Land Use/Indigenous
    Coordinator
  • Participate in the development and implementation of safety
    programs and policies
  • Prepare and submit operational and tactical plans for the
    Forest Management Area and timber quotas
  • Ensure the correct and timely complement of cut blocks, roads
    and crossings are laid out and approved
  • Engage with stakeholders including coordination with the public
    advisory committee
  • Lead the implementation of the Detailed Forest Management
    Plan
  • Participate in provincial policy initiatives, as required

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Registered Professional Forester or Technologist Designation
    (RPF or RFT), with the College of Alberta Professionals or
    Foresters Association of BC Forest Professionals
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, technical and leadership
    skills
  • A good understanding or experience in operations would be an
    asset
  • Proven experience with the forest planning process with a
    thorough understanding of forest policy

Blue Ridge is located near the growing, family-friendly
community of Whitecourt, Alberta, and is a short one and half hour
drive from Edmonton.  Our mill and forest operations form an
