Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc. (Al-Pac) is seeking a Planning Coordinator to work out of our mill site in Athabasca, Alberta. The successful candidate is responsible for supporting the Forest Resources Team activities through an office/field application to ensure that production, quality, environmental and legal requirements are met in a safe and cost-effective manner.

Role Responsibilities:
• GDP & AOP submission – Manage and co-ordinate Al-Pac’s timber supply and spatial harvest sequence based on the mill’s consumption of wood fiber. Submit GDP and AOP plans to the Government of Alberta (GOA) for approval. Track variances to the SHS and report to the GOA as required.
• GIS, Mapping & Data Analytics – Work spatial files and provide analysis of spatial and tabular timber supply data to support operational and forest management planning. Work closely with Forest Management planning to support the submission and maintenance of Al-Pac’s Forest Management plan. Produce ah-hoc maps as required for consultation and other Woodlands mapping requirements.
• Historical Resources Impact Assessments – Manage & co-ordinate contracts for the PHP Screening of high potential sites with Archaeologist consultants.
• Support operational planning & Indigenous consultation- Work with the operational planning group to support the submission and approval of Forest Harvest Planning, including the management of Al-Pac’s layout data dictionary. Support Al-Pac’s Indigenous Relations consultation efforts through map creation and preparation of data as required.

Role Requirements:
• University Degree or Technical Diploma in Forestry or demonstrated equivalent experience.
• Active Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or Forest Technician (RPFT) (Or eligible for Alberta certification).
• Considered an asset:
o Operations or Forest Management Experience.
o GIS and ArcGIS experience.
o Keen analytical skills related to data management for the purposes of providing data driven decisions as well as experience developing, negotiating and managing new and existing contracts.
o Understanding of legislative requirements (Forest Management in Alberta and the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act).
o Familiar with modelling, optimization and analysis of data using statistical tools.
o Understanding of First Nations culture, and expectations related to economic development.
• Ability to excel and be flexible in high pressure environments is essential.
