Weyerhaeuser Princeton Timberlands is on the lookout for a
passionate and driven Logging Supervisor to
join our vibrant team in Princeton, BC. This role offers the chance
to be part of a professional and empowered team managing forestry
operations across the stunning Nicola, Similkameen, and Okanagan
Regions of Southern British Columbia. Our team supplies 1.0 million
m³/year of wood to the Weyerhaeuser sawmill and other wood-using
facilities in the region.
Role Overview:
As a
Logging Supervisor, you will join the Operations Team, reporting to
the Operations Superintendent. The Operations Team is responsible
for timber harvest & haul and associated road development and
maintenance activities. Your specific duties will
include:
Providing safety leadership within Weyerhaeuser as well as amongst
contractors,
Ensuring compliance with safety, contractual and environmental
management systems,
Building
and maintaining positive working relationships with Indigenous
communities, independent contractors, government agencies,
stakeholders, and the general public.
Supervising contractors conducting harvesting, hauling, road
construction, and maintenance activities,
Developing
harvest and log delivery schedules and cost forecasting,
Negotiation
of contracts and road maintenance agreements
Engaging in developmental training opportunities to gain exposure
to all aspects of our business.
Requirements
Demonstrated
leadership in safety,
Demonstrated ability
to communicate effectively, and develop effective working
relationships,
Demonstrated ability
to work both independently and as a team member,
Strong
analytical and organizational skills,
Results orientated with the ability to manage
multiple priorities,
Working knowledge of
forestry legislation,
Registered as either a
Registered Professional Forester (preferred) or a Registered Forest
Technologist, with the Forest Professionals British Columbia
(FPBC),
A preference of a
minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in forest
operations.
Fieldwork is an
essential part of the role, and the work will always involve a
blend of time in the field and office-related responsibilities.
While these responsibilities can be completed in the office, you’ll
have the flexibility to work remotely up to two days a
week.
