There is an exciting opportunity to
join Weyerhaeuser as an Engineering Co-op Student or Engineering
Intern in Drayton Valley, Alberta. This is a full time temporary
position at the Drayton Valley Lumber mill for a period of 8-months
with an expected start date of September 1, 2025, and end
date of April 30, 2026
.  The intern or co-op
students’ primary responsibilities include reviewing engineering
drawings, updating equipment specifications in CMMS SAP, and
updating and improving the Bills of Materials (BOMs) for critical
mill equipment. This role will have direct reporting to the
Reliability Specialist and dotted line reporting to site
maintenance planners. 

Key
Responsibilities:

  • Follow all safety policies and
    procedures in the mill, role model safe behaviors to enhance the
    safety culture and sustain our strong safety record
  • Develop caring leadership for
    safety and treat safety as the highest priority at work
  • Develop a good understanding of
    sawmill operations, maintenance fundamentals, and reliability
    fundamentals.
  • Work closely with your assigned
    mentors and develop a good understanding of Computerized
    Maintenance Management System (CMMS) SAP
  • Develop a strong understanding,
    knowledge, and skills on Bills of Materials (BOMs) in SAP
  • Interpret engineering drawings,
    conduct equipment walkdowns and capture asset specifications
    information
  • Update the asset specifications in
    mill drive survey and SAP to ensure accuracy
  • Work with Planners and procurement
    leaders and follow mill business process to add new parts to
    equipment BOMs
  • Work with parts vendors and
    suppliers to review and ensure parts accuracy of both existing and
    new parts added to the BOMs
  • Works closely with the Planner and
    Project Manager update changes to equipment modifications for new
    mill projects

Requirements

  • Must be an Engineering Student pursuing a Bachelor of
    Engineering (Preferably 3rd year or 4th year Mechanical or
    Industrial Engineering student) or Master of Engineering Student
    (preferably Mechanical or Industrial with previous co-op experience
    of working on Bills of Materials in a manufacturing plant)
  • Solid foundation and knowledge of interpretation of Engineering
    drawings of equipment including parts and sectional drawings
  • Willingness to adapt to a strong safety culture
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing
    environment
  • Good mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing
    basics
  • Strong desire to learn sawmill operations, new software such as
    CMMS SAP, and other tools required for working on Bills of
    Materials (BOMs) improvement
  • Detailed oriented with strong analytical, and problem-solving
    skills
  • Strong work ethics and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with Maintenance Millwrights for
    conducting equipment walkdowns and across cross-functional
    departments for system improvements 
  • Possess a high degree of initiative and be able to establish
    priorities and organize workload
  • Intermediate to Advanced skills in MS Excel
  • AutoCAD or SOLIDWORKS skills are preferred but not
    mandatory
  • Available and eligible to work full-time (40 hours per
    week)
  • Relocate to Drayton Valley for the entire work term of 8
    months
  • Successful completion of drug test, background check, and
    fitness for work test
Compensation: The pay rate for this role is
$34 per hour. In addition, we are offering a stipend to those that
need to relocate to Drayton Valley.
