Food Paradise in Quesnel, BC

Just a heads up: hopefully you’re not hungry before reading this, because you’re about to get hungrier!

In case you didn’t gather from my last blog: I like to eat. I love trying new restaurants and *most* things. I’ve really been enjoying the local restaurants in Quesnel and its surrounding communities. I love how the restaurants here are family owned and not chains. I’ve decided to make a “Kayla’s Top 5” list! (I wanted to do 10, but honestly, they’ve all been so equally good that they all remain tied at #6)

#5    The Jack o’ Clubs Taco Club

Located in the beautiful town of Wells, BC, you will find this fabulous shack filled with burritos, tacos, and an endless supply of hot sauces.

I drove by here at least once a week this summer and was always tempted to stop, and I finally did! Oh boy, was it worth it. I had the best chicken burrito of my life. It was made to order and topped with a delicious homemade salsa.

I highly recommend stopping here!

#4  Pure Spice

If you’re a fan of Indian cuisine, go to Pure Spice!! Their curry chicken is to die for. I tried it for the first time at Billy Barker Days, and I wish I had tried it sooner.

Pure Spice is conveniently located downtown Quesnel, alongside with most of the businesses and other local restaurants.

My brother is here visiting me this week and I can’t wait to take him here!

#3  Bliss

Mmmm, Bliss. This restaurant is luckily a few minute walk from my house. They also have great curry chicken and soups.

The outside patio adds more character to the restaurant, as I love sitting outside and eating.

Rumor has it, they have great pizzas, but I’m still yet to try.

Bliss was recommended to me by some locals and it was one of the first places I actually tried. It has delicious food.

#2  Granville’s Coffee

Also located downtown Quesnel on Reid Street, Granville’s Coffee gives you the coolest vibes. It’s a busy environment but everyone (customers included) always seems to be so happy.

When I first moved to Quesnel, my uncle recommended I try the vanilla milkshake with espresso, and oh my goodness, it was the best $4 I ever spent.

Granville’s has great lattes, cappuccinos, and iced drinks. My most favorite is the eggs benedict. I also really enjoyed the ham and cheese muffin. I take all my company to Granvilles!

#1  The Cariboo

Where do I even start with the Cariboo (AKA “The ‘Boo”)? I’ve been going there every Wednesday (give or take a couple) for half night appetizers since the day I moved here. I always have enough for leftovers for my lunch the next day. Steak sandwich Friday is a great night too. Oh, and rib Saturday.

I look forward to my Cariboo Wednesday’s every week and I am sure going to miss it when I’m gone. They have a live band on weekends, and it’s always filled with good vibes.

To top it off, they have a drive-thru liquor store.

Well, that’s my top 5 list, but honestly, every restaurant I’ve eaten at has been delicious. I recommend spending some time here and enjoying the amount of diverse food. I’m really going to miss these places when I go back home in three weeks.

That’s all for now, everyone!

Have a great week!

-Kayla
