Woodlands team has an opportunity for a:
Forest Planner
Reporting to the Planning Superintendent, the Forest Planner
will work individually and with a team of professionals responsible
for all aspects of forest planning.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop harvest and road plans with a focus on GIS
workflows - Contract management, contractor supervision, liaison with
government officials and coordination of road and block layout - Consult stakeholders including first nations
- Expect 75%+ office work to address GIS intensive work
requirements - Incorporate wildlife, fisheries, environmental and economic
values into harvest design
Desired Qualifications and Qualities:
- Commitment to safety and responsible forest stewardship.
- Self-motivated and team oriented.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Competency or aptitude in using ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro, ESRI
mobile apps and RoadEng; - Experience developing or supervising harvest and roading
plans - Demonstrated leadership in a group setting.
- Possess a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or Registered
Professional Forest Technologist (RPFT) designation for Alberta (or
be eligible and willing to earn this designation).
