Our Fraser Lake, BC, division has an immediate opening for the
dynamic role of:
Green Power Facility Chief
Power Engineer
Key responsibilities include:
Operations:
Staffing, scheduling, maintenance outage planning, operational
reports, managing employee hiring, training and SOPs with a high
emphasis on safety
Identifying energy savings opportunities and developing plans
to realize these savings
Tracking and prioritizing energy-saving projects
Managing a Power Plant budget
Completing cost/benefit analysis for energy projects
Managing Root Cause Failure Analysis Teams (RCFA’s) as
required
Benchmarking and tracking energy usage
Conducting or arranging energy audits, surveys, and
measurement/verification
Managing the collection of in-house and utility meter
readings
Evaluating alternative energy scenarios based on sustainable
sources such as biomass
Keeping current on new technologies for energy efficiency
Completing quarterly energy management reports
Other duties as assigned
Regulatory Compliance (TSCBC, Work Safe, Environmental, B.C
Hydro, AON Insurance compliance):
Document control of all safety-related documents
Work Safe Process Safety
Management of Change (MOC)
Safety Management Plan
Annual internal and External auditing
Ensure the facility is operated within the Boilers’ pressure
Vessels and refrigeration regulation
Liaison for Electrical Operating permit and compliance
Oversight of emissions testing, scheduling, and maintenance of
the ESP
Oversight of the on-site landfill, including permit
compliance
Wastewater/Water Management, including annual reporting to the
Ministry of Environment
Fiber management, including monitoring, sampling, and recording
of load slips, stockpiling and stockpile rotation, fiber contractor
scheduling of trucks and dumping areas, fiber visits ensuring clean
appropriate fiber as well as fiber meetings and
planning
Maintenance (Mechanical & Electrical):
Vetting & Scheduling of contractors
Contractor management (in docs, safety paperwork,
qualifications)
Scheduling and planning of outages (Weschler)
Parts procurement and ordering are done before the planned
outage
Reporting and document control of all maintenance activities
through CMMS
Regulatory mechanical, electrical and fire protection
maintenance
Developing and managing Ongoing ORC PM’s
Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of 3rd
Class Power Engineering certification
Grade 12 or equivalent
Thermal Fluid Solutions Level 2 and Emergency Response
training
Internal West Fraser Supervisory training
Microsoft Word & Excel training
Dynastar and/or Maximo CMMS training
Familiarity with West Fraser Corporately Driven Pressure
Equipment Integrity Management Program (PEIMP)
Be fluent in BC’s environmental permitting system, including
emissions monitoring and landfill practices
Experience in Combined Heat and Power (CHP) analysis and heat
exchanger network analysis would be assets
Excellent interpersonal skills with an exceptional ability to
delegate as required
Strong organizational and analytical skills
The ability to work independently as well as part of a
team
Excellent skills in all forms of communication
The desire to progress, learn, grow, and succeed
