Job Description

West Fraser’s Edson & Hinton Woodlands Team has an
opportunity based in Hinton, Alberta, for a highly motivated
professional:

SENIOR OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR

Reporting to the Operations Superintendent, this position
will focus on capital development during the summer months and
transition to logging and hauling supervision in the winter. This
position will have several Operations Supervisors reporting
directly to them.

  • Oversee and mentor Operations Supervisors
  • Coordinate the capital roads and bridges program
    • Manage contracts
    • Supervise construction
    • Budgeting and tracking costs
  • Manage purchase wood contracts with other
    companies
  • Coordinate the log quality program
  • Supervise logging and hauling
    operations 

Other responsibilities may
include:

  • Logger Pay Review

The ideal candidate will possess the following
qualifications:

  • Possess a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or
    Registered Professional Forester Tech (RPFT) designation for
    Alberta (or be eligible and willing to earn this
    designation)
  • 5 years of relevant forest operations
    experience
  • Be a dynamic, career-minded individual
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal
    skills
  • Be highly motivated with proven organizational
    skills

Location Summary:

Hinton Woodlands (HWP) is located in Hinton, Alberta. This
division manufactures dimensional lumber and manages two Forest
Management Areas. Employees live and work on the beautiful eastern
slope foothills adjacent to the Rocky Mountains and Jasper National
Park.
