A New Beginning

It’s my first time blogging, so I think I’d better introduce myself…

My name is Donjeta Ademaj and I am one of the lucky winners of the Greenest Workforce Internship Program. I recently graduated from the Human Resources Program at Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning. I left my hometown in Toronto, and began my exciting adventure at AV Nackawic, as a Human Resources Intern.

It has only been about a week since my move to New Brunswick, and I already feel like I have been a part of this place and town for a lot longer. I was worried at first coming from a big city such as Toronto into a small town like Nackawic, I wasn’t sure what to expect. However I have adapted so quickly into the community that I feel like I am not really missing out at all. Whenever I miss the big city life I travel to beautiful Fredericton, the capital of New Brunswick which is only about a 30 minute drive from Nackawic.

A little bit about AV Nackawic and the AVG Group….
The Mill first started its operations in 1970 under the St Anne Nackawic Pulp & Paper Company, producing pulp for the photo grade paper industry. However on January 2006, AV Nackawic started its activities under the Aditya Birla Group’s ownership and fully converted to the production of dissolvable grade pulp.
The Aditya Birla Group is multinational conglomerate with revenues of US $40 billion and is anchored by a workforce of over 133,000 employees belonging to 42 different nationalities. The Group takes great pride in their values and is dedicated to creating an environment where people have the tools and the freedom to deliver their commitments and take great pride in their work.

My first week at AV Nackawic….
The welcome I received from the staff has surpassed my expectations.  I look forward to going to work each day, one because I pass the beautiful river on my drive to work and of course because of the warm environment and the friendly staff at AV Nackawic.
My first week at AV Nackawic has already been a great learning experience. In this past week I have had the opportunity to begin work on various different projects and collaborate with many individuals from other departments. One thing that has really stood out to me is the strong dedication and commitment of the all of the team members. I have much to learn and I am very thankful that I have such an amazing team behind me. I look forward to spending the next 4 months at AV Nackawic!  Happy Readings! Goodbye for now…. =)
