Where can you be in 30 minutes (or less)?

I have consistently bragged about my commute (or lack thereof) here in Vernon, but I do more than go to work and home in the summer! I thought that I should share a few of the awesome places I can visit that are 30 minutes or less from Tolko’s Vernon Office.

  1. The Lake – 10 minutes
  2. You can be on the beach on world-famous Okanagan Lake or award-winning Kalamalka Lake in just ten minutes. Bring a beach blanket, enjoy the playground, and relax in the sand and water. It’s hard to go wrong on a beautiful Okanagan day!

  1. Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park – 10 minutes
  2. Enjoy hiking? Walking? Biking? Enjoy breathtaking natural scenery at this coveted provincial park. Use the trails high above Kalamalka Lake for a splendid day of activity. Not a fan of moving around on a hot summer day? Many beaches also line the lake as well, which is also a perfectly reasonable way to enjoy the scenery.

  1. Polson Park – 2 minutes
  2. Vernon’s flagship park complete with a waterpark, pond and playground. Also home to the Vernon Lawn Bowling Club, one of my favorite summer hangouts.

  1. Vernon Curling Club – 3 minutes
  2. Jeremy’s favorite winter hangout is just 3 minutes away. Good times await!

  1. Jeremy’s Favorite Chinese and Japanese Food Restaurants – 2 minutes
  2. Yes, I love eating out – Tolko’s Vernon Office is located in downtown, home to many of our city’s top restaurants. You can walk to most of the restaurants in 5 minutes or less.

  1. The Mall – 5 minutes
  2. If you love to shop or love air conditioning, Vernon’s mall is just 7 minutes from Tolko.

  1. Shopping District – 5 minutes
  2. Attention city dwellers: tired of driving 30 minutes in rush hour to go to the supermarket to buy one item? Look no further than Vernon! All of the big-name store brands and local specialty retailers are within a five minute drive.

  1. Silver Star Ski Resort – 20 minutes
  2. World class-skiing and mountain biking is just 20 minutes from the office. Enjoy endless skiing, fresh powder, challenging biking, or a nice cup of hot chocolate in one of the many restaurants or cafes in the village (like me)!

  1. Kelowna International Airport – 30 minutes
  2. If for some reason you need to leave this piece of paradise, the international airport is only 30 minutes away. Direct flights to Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, and Fort McMurray are available. The airport takes the “international” name to heart, with direct flights to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Seattle as well.

  1. Home – 4 minutes
  2. With so much to do within such a close proximity, sometimes it seems that I get busier here than I do back in Calgary. Luckily, home is just 4 minutes away so I can crash on the couch and recharge for the next item on my agenda.
