The Human Resources Manager is responsible for the delivery of the Human Resource functions for the Narin Centre and Gogama mills in Ontario. You will be responsible for the delivery of Interfor’s Human Resources plans and programs across its Sawmills and Woodlands Operations and located at our Nairn Centre location. This position will partner with management to deliver strategic talent development activities, administer labour and employee relations events, and effectively implement HR programs and initiatives.
What You’ll Do:
-Partner with leaders to deliver strategy related to diversity, attraction and retention, talent reviews for hourly and salary workforce.
-Provide expertise, support and advice for the mill in all aspects of HR including Labour Relations, onboarding, performance management, leave management, discipline, employee relations, offboarding, payroll support, hourly compensation administration and compliance.
-Be accessible to employees and routinely spend time on the mill floor and ensure follow up on concerns and issues in a timely manner.
-Support rollout and implementation of HR Operations goals and initiatives (attraction, retention and diversity strategies)
-Be active in the community, identifying activities to promote Interfor in the community and put in action diversity initiatives.
-Advise and counsel leaders to prevent or resolve workplace issues; conduct investigations as required, coach and support leaders and recommend appropriate solutions.
-Manage the development, implementation and administration of human resource policies and procedures. Communicate and interpret policies and procedures as necessary.
-Collect, analyze and report out on key HR metrics.
-Build trusting relationships with union leaders to navigate labour relations issues.
-Provide advice and information to managers on the interpretation and application of the collective agreement and workplace legislation and policies.
-Support front-line leaders to navigate and document labour and employee relations issues in a consistent way.
-Work with EHS on issues that may have a direct impact on labour and employment issues.
-Provide advice and guidance and oversee the leave management, duty to accommodate, and return to work process related to WSIB Ontario and STD/LTD programs.
