Job Description

When you join our team as a Shipping Supervisor, reporting to the Mill Manager, you will be responsible for incoming shipments of lumber at our Matagami sawmill. In collaboration with the central planning and sales department, you will be responsible for forecasting production and managing/tracking the inventory in the yard.

What You’ll Do

-Provide guidance and leadership to the team in the execution of all activities with the aim of meeting shipping deadlines efficiently, based on best practices
-Coordinate the shipment of orders by truck or rail ensuring, in collaboration with sales representatives, ensuring that deadlines and quantities are met
-Responsible for the preparation, planning, and rotation of inventory by performing inventory counts in the yard and making necessary adjustments with operations to ensure rapid deliveries according to deadlines and customer specifications
-Monitor the quality of package storage and drying data between the results of the Matagami planers and dryers
-Responsible for weekly reporting of co-product deliveries, shipping, and drying quality
-Responsible for administering all shipping documents (Reports, delivery documents, order confirmation, truck loading worksheet and customs documents)
-Ensure the accuracy of loadings and any special requests from operators and supervisors to meet customer requirements and needs
-Collaborate with other departments to identify and resolve discrepancies, as appropriate
-Manage the department within the framework of the company’s policies, legislative and security guidelines (new entrepreneurs)
-Prepare environmental and insurance audits as needed. Follow up with stakeholders in accordance with inspection results
-Perform other related tasks

What You Offer

-3-5 years of logistics experience in an industrial setting
-Experience with supervision of direct reports in a team environment
-Proficiency with database inventory system (SAP) and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
-Bilingualism to collaborate with external/internal sales and customers
-Leadership, focus on results, quality and precision
-Proactive and flexible mindset to solve problems quickly
-Ability to multi-task to manage numerous interruptions and meet multiple demands
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
-Understanding of lumber manufacturing principles and processes
-Commitment to maintain a safe work environment

Job Conditions

  • Minimum experience: 2 to 5 years
  • Minimum educational level: Grade 12 or Equivalent
  • Language: Bilingual
