I have started working on an Energy Survey project for the Mackenzie sawmill. For this independent project, I will be responsible for collecting amperage and voltage readings from different motors to calculate power consumption for 3-phase motors. The purpose of this survey will be to understand the energy consumption at the site and propose new methods to decrease energy consumption.

Hi everyone, I think I forgot to introduce myself in my first blog so I will do it in this one. I have just recently completed my second year at University of Toronto as an Electrical & Computer Engineering student. I will be studying in depth into Control Systems and Energy Systems while pursuing a minor in Engineer Business.

My internship here at Canfor’s Mackenzie Sawmill has been great and I have been exposed to many control systems used here in the sawmill and the planer.

From working with the technicians, I have come to learn the importance of communication and teamwork between the engineers and the technicians.
